Top 5 on Friday – Hand Creams to Rely On!

image

Carrying on the theme of last Friday’s Top 5, hydration is key at this time of year! With the temperatures dropping and inside central heating, the harshness of those extremes takes its toll on our skin and doesn’t do our hands and nails any favours. Taking care of your mitts is essential and your hands best friend is Hand Cream!

Along with nail and cuticle oil, a nourishing hand cream is essential for nice hands and nails. If you invest in a decent hand cream over the Winter, it saves the hassle of dry, cracked and painful hands. Like I have said a million times in various posts, prevention is better than cure! So slap some cream on those hands!

Leave hand creams around in all the places you frequent the most, to ensure maximum hydration levels in your hands. Have your hand cream by your bedside, at your sink, in your handbag or drawer at work – this is where they should be!

My best tip is to slather it on your hands last thing at night before you go to bed, a good layer of it before you leave the house in the morning and top up during the day, for maximum impact! Or if your hands are severely dry, apply cream every time you wash your hands!

Anyway, here is my Top 5 on Friday – Hand Creams to Rely On! My favourite hand cream picks. These products are perfect to pop on as often as you can and keep your hands and nails lovely and hydrated.

L’occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream – £19 from L’occitane

This hand cream I use most evenings to moisturise my hands. It’s so very rich and nourishing and leaves my hands soft and supple by morning. I like to layer it with their cuticle oil and pure shea butter when my hands are at their worst and it plumps them back up. This is my go-to Winter hand cream as it’s so extremely nourishing!

La Roche Posay Lipikar Xerand Hand Cream – £4.50 from Boots

This is my favourite non greasy handcream. It has a gentle scent and when my hands are extremely sore or if I have an eczema flare up, it gently soothes and hydrates my hands. This my favourite hand cream for on the go!

Sanex Advanced AtopiCare Hand Cream –  currently £2.66 from Boots

This cream I picked up on the go when I ran out of my usual hand cream on a trip and I was so glad I did. My hands were at their worst and the cream did not aggravate or irritate them and kept my flare up at bay. I have re-purchased since, as it is a very affordable product that works!

Lancome Nutrix Royal Mains Hand Cream – £22 from Boots

This hand cream I received as a gift and it’s a really lovely treat for the hands. Once squeezed out of the tube, it seems a quite thick texture. Yet once massaged into the hands it soon warms up and leaves a velvet soft feeling on the hands. The cream absorbs into the hands a dream and has a lovely rose scent, my favourite! Bit of a splurge hand cream, but completely worth it!

The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream – £5 from The Body Shop

I was sold on this hand cream as soon as I smelled it.  I fell in love with this hand cream whilst on holiday, as I used it daily and had bought it as I departed from the airport. I often use this with cotton gloves to really intensively moisturise my hands and I really feel the benefits of the Rosehip Oil. A lovely hand cream at an excellent price point.
