There is nothing more I like than a good Nail polish/fashion designer collab.I love trend led colour and it’s the latest collection trend, incorporating polish with their so called fashion taste. OPI started off the trend with collaborating with celebrities, movies and popstars to release collections based on their own favourite themed colours and finishes. Marketing Genius! Some of those polishes are probably some of faves, Push and Shove anyone?

Yet fashion only really came to the front of polish trends maybe in the last 5 years or so. With the recent nail art buzz in the last few years and increase in nail polish sales it was only a matter of time before a designer jumped on the nail band wagon.

Between Sophy Robson designer nail wraps and nails to Elegant Touch’s House of Holland designer nails, nail art was clearly turning heads.

Also Sally Hansen’s collab with Prabal in 2013, designer nail collaborations suddenly exploded into the market place.

Thea Green’s enterprise into the beauty world was in the form of Nails Inc brand, after spending years and years being the Fashion Editor at Tatler. Looking to monopolise on the world of express manicures, she clearly saw what was coming. Since then some of the major nail polish players are taking a fashion led cue into polish collections including designer collaborations.

imageNails Inc are probably leading the way with collaborations, initially with designers  Matthew Williamson and Preen which caught our attention.

In more recent times, the Alexa edit was very popular when it was released, I fawned over most of those polishes.

imageTheir most high profile collab with Victoria Beckham was in my words WOW! Especially with only two shades, Bamboo white and Judo red, minimal would definitely be the word. Yet I feel these shades were ever so chic and probably better having a less is more approach, especially with her own fashion collection.

The most recent release is the alice + olivia x Nails inc Nail polish range. It includes 4 full size shades and a mini collection.

Both the full sizes and mini set are beautiful and have been on my wishlist since their release.

“This season the collection is about personal expression. It is about bold femininity. It is about glamour” says Bendet. “Nothing completes an outfit like the perfect nail color. I am so excited to be collaborating with Nails inc on such a chic capsule of nail polishes for fall!”” says alice + olivia’s CEO and Creative Director Stacey Bendet.

Ciate’s collaboration with Olivia Palermo was a classic collection of three staple shades which any budding fashionista would want in their stash.

imageA pinky nude, a classic red and a summery bright coral, I mean who wouldn’t have these in their stash?!? With Olivia Palermo’s do no wrong fashion reputation, more shades will definately be on the way. UPDATE –  Blogpost on her latest shades on the way.

Louboutin Nail polish is another fabulously fashionable collaboration with 31 shades currently available in Brown Thomas.

imageThe bottles are like pieces of art, made from cast glass. The bottle is based on the design of balustrades on railings and the cap of the polish like the spike of a Louboutin stiletto. Fabulous darling fabulous! These polishes are that fabulous they are not even in the beauty hall, they are with the shoes darling!

Anyway, enough of me sounding like Eddy or Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous. If you are looking for the fashion influence without the price tag of a designer polish maybe go down the Essie road.

Essie recently appointed the designer Rebecca Minkoff as the Global Colour Designer for the brand, bringing all her design and fashion expertise to the table. Since she joined there have been some excellent collections and the collaboration is going from strength to strength.

Anyway that was the lowdown on all recent nail polish collaborations. What was your favourite fashion collab? What was favourite polish from any collab?

Let me know in the comments.
