When I pulled together shades inspired from the catwalks of the SS16 designer collections for this season’s capsule nail wardrobe edit, Oranges of all hues featured so highly, I really couldn’t ignore the shade! These Hot Oranges and Tangerine tones were just lush and I kept noticing them everywhere! Hot Orange Nails are a perfect colour pop for your nails!
I had been watching the catwalks collections filtering down since late Autumn of last year into mainstream fashion lines and beauty collections. These Orange toned shades popping up here and there, totally on my radar, I just had to try it for myself!
To be honest, this shade I’ve never really worn in the past, in either fashion or even on my nails. I guess with my fair skin tone I never picked up these kinds of shades incase they didn’t jar well or I didn’t get the wear out of them. I always found myself more drawn to corals/orange toned reds of the entire orange spectrum of shades. Bright oranges were completely non-existent in my collection!
I looked to my polish collection to see if I had anything to work with, I had one pure orange shade over here with me, Ciate’s Hopscotch (in my manicure below). This shade I used a handful of times in various nail art designs, but never in a proper manicure. I decided to give the shade a go and I was so surprised how much I liked the shade on my nails. This shade in my eyes was certified fresh!
Since then I have been on the hunt for more hot orange shades to add to my collection, a testament to the fact of how much I have grown to love the shade.
I have handpicked some of my favourite hot oranges and tangerine shades, pictured below, which I just had to feature in this post. I managed to pick up quite a few shades from the new Spring launches and other more classic and core range shades, covering all price points to help you acheive the look whatever your budget.
Check out these zesty shades to freshen up your manicures this Spring!
Polishes top left to right: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail paint in Mango, Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Colour in Orange Punch, Rimmel Rita Ora 60 Second Nail Polish in Oragasm and Essie Taj-Ma-Haul.
Polishes bottom left to right: Essie’s Sunshine State of Mind, OPI’s It’s a Piazza Cake, Butter London’s Jaffa and Deborah Lippmann’s Lara’s Theme.
I don’t know why I was so fearful of this shade in my manicures, my thoughts were completely unfounded and it just goes to show what looks scary in the bottle can be the complete opposite on your nails. It pays to get out of your polish comfort zone and open your eyes to some refreshing polish tones!
