Ever since I can ever remember wearing polishes, especially glitter polishes, I have always been drawn to more golden tones. I guess I loved that midas touch on my nails. I love Gold, I imagine saying this with a Goldmember voice! I jest, but in all seriousness in either metallic or glitter form, Festive Nails – Gold Shimmering Nail Polish Shades are just the ticket in any party manicure!
Either over a beautiful opaque shade as a topper or built up on the nail plate, it dazzles especially now we are into party season. I have just began rooting through my polishes thinking what to wear over the next week or two, especially now we are on the run up to Christmas! I felt a little excited and it inspired me to write this post.
In terms of gold shades, the last few years on the high street, golds polishes have been much more readily available. Now we can take our pick and gild our nails with the most golden of fingers!
No7’s nail effect nail polish in Sun rays (pictured below) is just one of those beautiful twinkling shades on the nail, like sunshine glimmering on the sea on a beaming sunny day.
Another favourite and not just at more festive times is Topshop’s shade Magpie, (pictured below) a true gold holographic glitter topper, a real party on the nails. A chunkier glitter, built up looks amazing on its own or layered over warmer shades really looks the shiz!
Barry M’s Aquarium collection is also an excellent place to start with gold based glitters. Treasure Chest (pictured below), is a trove of matte and brassy toned flecks of gold which will truly set your pinkies on fire. I find this one has a nicer level of subtle sparkle, and not too in your face if that is what you are after!
Ciate’s Candy Cane house, a purchase from last year, had some excellent golden glitters. Tangled Tinsel and Ginger Snap (pictured below) really get your nails flashing all kind of colours like a twinkling christmas tree, although would equally look as good at any time of the year!
Nails Inc glitters have been faithful in bringing wonderful sparkle and amp up the look of any manicure. Chelsea Embankment is one of those shades which is great for party season. This shade, pictured below, I wore last new year and was so sad to take it off at the beginning of January. It’s a true micro glitter gold and looks lovely with any party outfit.
Another shade from Nails Inc, Liverpool St, is a great hybrid of the glitter/pop art polish collections. This shade pictured below has white, baby blue and gold particles. Not a true glitter, yet gives a 3D quality to any polish look and adds the hint of slight sparkle.
My favourite gold toned glitter topper, which I have probably worn the most in recent times, is Belgrave Square from Nails Inc. This shade I came across whilst having a manicure at a Nails Inc counter and I pretty much fell in love with after having it applied to my nails. I had Victoria, a rich deep burgundy shade underneath this polish and it really worked well together. A great combination if you ever get chance to try them.
This on its own or even over a golden metallic looks sublime. One to pick up if you can! This shade is seen to be believed in person, this picture above will not do it justice!
My latest treasure from the brand WIP from Urban Outfitters, is the shade OH MY GOLD! A beautiful fine gold microglitter with micro holographic glitters running through it. An exquisite festive affair which looks lavish on your nails, seen here pictured below.
A devil to take off mind, but wonderful on the nails. Totally worth it though! Another one which I feel is much better on the hand than in an image.
I hope this post offered you a golden glimpse into what your manicures could turn into over the festive period. I say this, I tend to generally reserve glitters for the Christmas period on the whole. I do admit if I could get away with sparkle more throughout the year, I definitely would! This might have to be one of my new years resolutions.
