To be honest, I was a bit late to the Essie Resort pre-order bandwagon with my blog break, however it gave me good opportunity to read up on Essie Going Guru Resort 2016 Nail Polish Collection.
But now the official launch of the Essie Resort 2016 collection is only around the corner, now is the time to Go Guru!
I have held off writing about Essie’s Resort and Spring collections, mainly because both collections have only been readily available in the US/Canada and only recently become available from select places online over here in the UK.
I feel recently I am only just getting back into the brighter shades for Spring, I guess I wasn’t in the nail polish mood. But now I must admit I am craving some colour and these look right up my street!
After reading the press release for Essie’s Resort 2016 offering, I can’t help but be transported to India, the theme of this collection. A delhi-ght for the senses, this selection of saturated hues takes inspiration from India’s amazing culture, the sights, sounds, textures and tastes.
These tantalising shades embody the spirit of India! The Essie Going Guru Resort 2016 collection is a mix of muted brights in a gorgeous crelly formula, this collection is bound to grab your attention!
From what I have read online this collection is using Essie’s slightly thicker and more pigmented crelly formula! With a rumoured one coat wonder in the collection and a mint green with full coverage in 2 coats, I was anticipating a quality collection.
I sensed Essie are onto a winner with this formula, and from my swatches I think they are! The polishes apply beautifully too, smooth and silky with good coverage in 2 coats for all the shades – yay!
Now onto the shades!
Nama-Stay The Night– a medium blue crème
From my own swatches this shade is extremely similar to Essie’s Make Some Noise and Strut Your Stuff, Essie are duping themselves again!
Delhi Dance– a cool pink crème
Dupes similar to this shade are OPI’s Suzi Nails New Orleans and Barry M’s Daylight Curing polish in Pinkin of You.
Going Guru– a soft warm mint crème
This is quite a unique shade but the most similar I have found is Chanel’s Fraicheur 767, although OPI’s That’s Hula-rious is in the same realm.
Taj- Ma- Haul– a spicy marigold apricot
In my own collection I have nothing similar, not even in the slightest and after doing a bit of digging around I couldn’t find anything within dupe territory. The one true original shade from the collection.
Overall looking at this collection I really like it! It’s an interesting choice for a Resort collection, gorgeous brights and a refreshing palette. I also like the shades used together, I look the look of that nail art below!
If I had to pick favourite shades, for me Taj-Ma- Haul is the real winner of this collection. Such a truly unique gorgeous orange, for me this is shade I would buy if I hadn’t bought the mini collection to try them out. Although joint runner up would be Nama-Stay the Night as it’s great one coat wonder and Going Guru for it’s beautiful warm tone, not something you see often in mint greens.
The Essie Going Guru Resort Collection is now available from Nail Polish Direct priced at £8.95 each.
