I was checking out my local pharmacies the other day and noted all the budget brands had new lines in for Spring/Summer! I know right, exciting stuff. Practically all the makeup displays’s had been given a freshen up, with new additions in the form of polish shades to play with. All perfectly seasonally appropriate, so of course I took a gander to see what budget polish picks for SS16 I could find!
I always like to see what’s on offer from the budget lines, especially when comparing the higher end shades from Spring/Summer collections for the season. I often pick up budget dupes for higher end shades too!
Of the ranges available, I noted a few releases that were just lovely, perfect for SS16 and definately worth a mention in a blog post.
Essence – Wake Up Spring! Collection
After trying some Essence polishes in January, I was eager to pick up some of their seasonal polish offerings. So when I came across Essence’s Wake Up Spring collection, I thought I’d check it out.
I love the dedication in this range for Spring, as it’s polish selections from the range extended to more than a handful of looks. The collection contains two Nail Polish Bases, four Tie & Dye Nail Polishes, a special Wake Up Spring Top Coat, along with nail art essentials of spring themed Nail Stickers and a Dotting Tool!
I can definately see myself picking up a Polish Base and a Tie Dye Polish, for manicure at a snip! These polishes are also a great way to re-create Dior’s Tie – Dye Nails from last summer, at a fraction of the cost!
I feel this is a good range to pick up a few shades here and there without spending the earth for a quick update, the most expensive item in these polish items costing €3.99. A really inexpensive bargain brand, why not select some Spring/Summer shades to update your mani’s! This collection is available now from Essence stockists!
SoSu by Suzanne Jackson Spring Summer 16 Polish Shades
Beauty Blogger Suzanne Jackson’s SoSu nail polishes I have tried here and there, with a few of her shades making a home in my collection. I really liked last winter’s metallic shades and deep cremes! So when I saw these bright shades for SS16 I knew I had to check them out and give them a whirl!
I always end up coming across this range on my beauty buying travels, so it made sense to feature them in this post. This collection is a wide array of bold summer cremes, for a tropical manicure! These would be perfect for late Spring/ Summer getaway manicure! I haven’t tried many of her creme shades, I would be interested on trying this formula of her gel effect polishes plus her new improved brush for easy application.
This 8 piece Collection has the shades (pictured above)
Bitter Sweet – Pastel Lemon
Grape Gatsby – rich bright grape
Candy Floss Pink – a light muted pink
Vanilla Sky – a Pantone Serenity blue
Ibiza Rocks – a high voltage bright pink
Ocean Breeze – a bright mid-toned blue
Mint Crush – a blue toned mint (this one looks extremely like Mint Candy Apple from Essie)
Marbella Orange – a tangy bright orange
I can totally see myself picking up some of these to try, my favourites from this polish drop being Ocean Breeze, Grape Gatsby and Bitter Sweet. A handful of perfect summery shades that I will more than likely end up picking up.
This range is landing at pharmacies now across Ireland priced at €7.99, available at select Penney’s stores and the entire SOSU polish range is available from the SOSU website.
Barry M Coconut Infusions Range
My last and final budget polish pick me up is Barry M’s Coconut Infusions polish range. I had seen these previewed online within the last month and was glad they have finally became available for everyone to get their hands on!
These polishes are continuing the trend of infusing polish with nail loving superfood ingredients. This formula is harnessing the benefits of Coconut Oil and Coconut Water, looking to hydrate and nourish nails aswell as giving excellent wear time and supreme shine with it’s gel polish formula. Best of both worlds!
If am honest, I never realised our nails enjoyed the benefits of coconut oil and water. But with both Nails Inc and Barry M producing nail polish products like this (for both higher end and budget price points), there must be some science behind what seems a bit like gimmicky marketing. I guess all nut oils generally are good for skin and nails, it wouldn’t do them any harm!
I am definately interested in trying these, especially with such a good price point! I would be interested to see if there was any difference between this formula and their Sunset Daylight Curing Gel Polish formula. I would like to see if the addition of these infusing ingredients affected longevity of your manicure or if the added coconut based infusions really did nourish the nails, especially in a gel manicure formula.
There was my picks of budget polish picks for Spring/Summer 16, lots of new polishes to pick up and try.
I am trying to incorporate more budget polish picks every now and then, to update us polishaholics what’s available when you want to spend less. I feel these ranges for the price point are very good value, polishes to pick up and rock in a manicure when the sun comes out. Or brighten your day, especially if you have our weather!
