Picasso went through his blue period and now I have, in nail polish form. After having one of those blue months I decided to look at all of my collection of nail polishes and whittle my way through them, discussing at length all of my beautiful hues of blue.
Looking at my collection I had quite a few blues which would be of the pastel variety.
Barry M’s gelly hi-shine colour in the shade Blueberry is one of those shades which bounces off the nail. A lovely glossy baby blue. I love it. And at three pounds ninety nine it’s a snip.
In fact Barry M are great with all kinds of blue, adding its shade Eat My Dust into its quick dry range. Viviannadoesmakeup added this into her rotation of nail colour and after swatching in store this colour is a great addition to any blue lovers collection, my own included.
Ciate’s range of nail polishes are definitely worth a look too. I received the shade Chincilla in their mini mani month advent calendar and I am so glad I did. It’s a wonderful neutral blue shade – very work appropriate.
For me, Topshop is top dog for blue shades. My most worn blue shades are ALL Topshop. A favourite pastel of mine is their shade AirKisses which is a very pretty bright blue. Something I would definitely rock any time of year.
Their shade AWOL is a true PANAM blue. It’s gorgeous. When I first got that shade I wore that ridiculously, to the point of staining.
Varsity is a shade of lovely indigo-ness which was available long before blues of that shade were ever a thing. Another topshop favourite is the shade Missile, a pretty bright mid tone metallic blue. This shade is the most hard wearing of the topshop shades and definitely a keeper. These shades are not easily available, which is a shame for blue lovers like myself. I have had to stop using them so frequently as they’re not readily available. So sad. I am currently on the hunt for dupes. Any suggestions?
I have had a mini love affair with a recent discovery from Nails inc in the form of Baker Street in their gel effect polish formula. So good even without top coat I might add and had so many compliments from people asking what it was.
Some of my more recent blue shades I have been loving are the No7 stay perfect nail colour in Persian blue, a dead ringer for Baker Street but just a tad darker. A pretty dupe for those of us saving the pennies although if I am honest next time I am out I will pop the two shades on the same hand see if I can see the difference. If I cannot tell one from the other I more than likely will keep using the No7. A bargain at just seven pounds I might add.
I am sad to end this post with all this talk of my favourite blues.
What are your favourite blues? I NEED more blue in my life. Let me know in the comments.
