2015 Nail Favourites

Well now we are well and truly into 2016 its time to reflect on the year that was, in nail polish. It was a good year, with some amazing collections, new developments in the polish field and was the year I really got hooked on polish and began blogging.

If you have read my blog by now you will know my love for polish. You will notice how I reminisce over polishes, collections and nail products I love. Writing this post is a joy and I will try to keep it brief otherwise this post will go-on and I will sound like a broken record. But I guess when things are worth sharing with you that’s what happens!

Nail Care Favourites

I haven’t changed up my routine much this year, not for a lack of trying but mainly due to the current products I have used being unrivalled by anything I may have tried out. My Nails Inc combo of the Nailkale Superfood Basecoat and Kensington Caviar Topcoat, work like a charm and really do the job of keeping polish on my nail beds.

For tools, my OPI Crystal File, Nails Inc File and Boots 4 way Block are the business for all my filing needs, with every need catered for.

My favourite nail tool this year is the SensatioNail gel polish removal tool which is something of a work horse. It’s not only excellent at removing gel or even glitter after soaking nails, but really good at removing every bit of cuticle around the nail for pristine nail plates.

In terms of polish removal, my favourite remover has to be Superdrug’s Nourishing Nail Polish Remover which has a really gentle formula and leaves my nails less dehydrated with a squeaky clean plate ready for polish. Also for the price, it’s a steal! For acetone polish remover OPI’s Polish Remover really does the job at removing every trace of stubborn polish so it remains high in my list of removers.

Overall my favourite brand for Nailcare products this year has to be Sally Hansen, they really do have an extensive line of nail care products. Sally Hansen do the best cuticle removers – my favourite being the Instant Cuticle Remover.

Nail Colour Favourites

Favourite Budget Colour Range

If I am honest I couldn’t pick between all the wonderful ranges of budget colour from the drugstore. The ranges have so many pluses and minuses I would be nitpicking the differences I feel. I will direct you to my previous post on Drugstore Polish Ranges I Love where you can read extensively about various brands and ranges which I rate highly in my collection.

Favourite Brand for Polish Collections

This year my favourite brand for collections this year had to be Essie. With Rebbeca Minkoff at the helm of colour direction, they really did hit it out the ball park with polish collections that ticked all the boxes for me. Flowerista, Leggy Legend, Peach Side Babe collections to name but a few. I cannot wait for what Essie will bring in 2016!

My Top 5 Nail Collections of 2015

I think if I had to pick one of the Essie collections, Leggy Legend’s beautiful shades stole my heart – this had to be my favourite!

I also favoured this year Chanel’s polish collections, with Rouge Noir Christmas collection especially high up my list along with Mediterranee Summer collection.

Also Louboutin’s Scarabee Limited Edition Collection also got my heart racing with their chromatic shades, a beautiful collection worth seeing to believe.

I loved Deborah Lippmanns Roar collection, such a lovely array of classic shades with a beautiful formula, ideal for adding to your main capsule nail wardrobe.

A late addition to my list had to be the Nars Steven Klein Collection, simply stunning and unique selection of shades with edge. Not something you come across to often in the beauty hall.

Favourite New Brand

My favourite new brand is Smith and Cult, a polish brand I discovered and really enjoyed using in 2015. The Smith and Cult’s Nailed Lacquer has an excellent flawlessly smooth coverage with brilliant shine and excellent range of shades. Also I appreciate the 5-Free formula, without Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor, the polish remains a high performance product without the nasties.

Favourite Polish Formula

My favourite colour formula of 2015 was Nails Inc Nailkale colour formula, which I found so hard wearing and long lasting. This polish lasts weeks on my toes before any sign of chipping and lasts over a week on my nails. I love the range of shades and I will continue to repurchase my most worn shades and invest in new ones to add to my collection.

Favourite At Home Gel Nail System

My favourite at home gel nail system is the Ciate Geltox Gel Nail System, which is a perfect system for my vast array of polishes I own. The removal process is not difficult with one layer of gel on the nail. I also appreciated being able to use my normal base coat underneath the gel so this system does not deteriorate the condition of the nail plate. This is a gel nail system which keeps strength and health in your nails, so for my occasional gel mani’s this kit is all I will use.

With so many beautiful choices of colour to choose from, I have decided for my favourite individual polish shades I will do a Top 15 Polishes from 2015 post. Stay tuned for that!
